Last week of school!
Monday,Tuesday, and Wednesday: We will finish reading Romeo and Juliet and take the unit test on Thursday during the first exam time. The test will cover the plot, characters, and setting of Romeo and Juliet as well as all the terms associated with Shakspearean drama. Also, the test will cover the background of Shakespeare and Elizabethan theater from the notes and the handouts. Study the notes, terms, quotes, etc. in the R&J packet.
Then. . . Have a FANTASTIC SUMMER!!!!!!!
Vocabulary #10 this week: sentences due Thursday; Final vocabulary TEST on Friday.
Animal Farm: Propaganda assignment #1 is due Monday. You will present your propaganda examples to the class. The AF quiz over chapters 1-5 is Thursday. See the AF page for details.
Poetry: we will continue reading and analyzing poetry in class each day, preparing for the poetry notebook project that’s due Tuesday, 5/12.
End -of-Course test: we’ll review each day until the test.
Romeo and Juliet : starts this week.
No vocabulary this week.
We will finish up The Odyssey this week. Great job all groups on the Powerpoint presentations. Access the Powerpoints for Odysseus’ adventures on the ODYSSEY page. We will finish reading Part 2 together in class. Test is planned for Wednesday (4/22).
We will begin the novel Animal Farm by George Orwell with a background Powerpoint and a project on Propaganda. See the Animal Farm page for information and due dates.
We will be reading a lot more poetry this week and next, preparing for the Poetry Notebook which be due in May.
End of Course test is scheduled for May 7-8. (This is the date I am required to give the test.) We will be doing some review every day until the test. We will go to the computer lab this week (probably Friday) for a practice test. The link for USA Testprep is on the “blogroll.” Do the practice tests and/or the activities for the four areas of the test. This test counts 15% of you grade in this class.

This week is a vocabulary week, unit # 8. Sentences are due Thursday; quiz, Friday.
Bring textbooks to class this week! After a Powerpoint on the background of = and some discussion of the Trojan War, we will begin reading The Odyssey in class together. After that, in groups you will read portions of the poem and present a Powerpoint of events in that section.
