No vocabulary this week.

Monday (3/30) – Summative project due for TKAM.

This week we’ll continue working on the TKAM  literary analysis paper. The rough draft of all five paragraphs is due Wednesday.

We’ll also continue reading the mythology, chapters 1, 2, and 13.  Take notes because you can use them when you take the quiz on Tuesday, 3/31.  We will begin discussing the Trojan War and the background of the epic poem, The Odyssey.

HAVE  A WONDERFUL, FUN, AND RESTFUL SPRING BREAK!

After the break we’ll finish The Odyssey and start Animal Farm by George Orwell.

No class on Monday.

Tuesday:  Research page for A Raisin in the Sun is due, all parts. 

Vocabulary #8 is this week:  Sentences and quiz are Friday.

TKAM– The summative project for TKAM is due Thursday, 3/26.   We’ll begin working on the five-paragraph literary analysis essay this week.  We’ll be working on this in class all week.  The final copy is due next Thursday, 4/2 . 

Mythology– you’ll be reading mythology background information and taking notes on chapters 1,2, and 13 in the mythology book.  You’ll be taking an open-note quiz over this information next week.

No vocabulary this week.  For the remainder of the semester vocabulary will be every other week.

A Raisin in the Sun: We’ll finish reading the play in class on Monday and you’ll have time to work on the handout covering vocabulary and important quotations.  This handout is due on Tuesday when we’ll take the Raisin test.  Also, you’ll find your own critical essay about A Raisin in the Sun and complete part 2 of the research page.  This is due on Friday, 3/20.

To Kill A Mockingbird: Thursday, 3/19, is the quiz over the final chapters of TKAM. All of the study questions and the one-pager for chapters 12-31 are also due on Thrsday.  The final assessment for the novel is a project that is due next week.  See the TKAM page for a list of the projects.  We will begin the process of writing a five-paragraph literary analysis essay on TKAM next week.

Also this week:  we’ll watch the TKAM movie and work on comma rules.

Vocabulary 7 this week: sentences due Thursday; quiz, Friday.

To Kill A Mockingbird:  quiz over chapters 12-18 is Thursday. Final chapters due next week on Thursday.

We’ll continue reading poetry and A Raisin in the Sun this week in class. We’ll also begin a punctuation unit.
